Volunteer Role: 4-H Coordinator
Location: Essa Agriplex, Thornton, ON
Time Commitment: 10+ hours/month
Reports To: Barrie Fair Committee
The Barrie Fair is proud to showcase the achievements of 4-H members and celebrate the spirit of agriculture. The 4-H Coordinator is a vital volunteer role, responsible for organizing and managing all aspects of the 4-H programming at the fair. This individual will work closely with 4-H clubs, fair organizers, and volunteers to ensure a smooth and successful experience for participants and attendees alike.
Program Planning and Coordination:
Collaborate with 4-H clubs and leaders to develop the schedule of events, competitions, and exhibits.
Coordinate registration for 4-H participants and ensure all necessary information is collected.
Oversee the setup of designated 4-H areas, including livestock barns, show rings, and exhibit spaces.
Communication and Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for 4-H leaders, members, and parents regarding fair activities.
Provide clear guidelines and expectations for participants.
Ensure 4-H members have access to the resources and support they need during the event.
Event Management:
Supervise 4-H events and competitions during the fair, ensuring they run on schedule.
Coordinate with judges, announcers, and other key personnel.
Address any issues or concerns that arise during 4-H activities.
Volunteer Oversight:
Recruit and manage a team of volunteers to assist with 4-H events.
Assign roles and provide training or instructions as needed.
Post-Fair Responsibilities:
Collect and organize feedback from participants, leaders, and stakeholders.
Assist in creating a report summarizing the successes and challenges of the 4-H program.
Recognize and thank volunteers and contributors for their efforts.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Familiarity with 4-H programs, agriculture, and livestock management.
Ability to work collaboratively with youth, parents, and community leaders.
Comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in event planning or volunteer coordination is a plus.

Build relationships with 4-H members, leaders, and the broader community.
