The Barrie Fair is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help make this year’s event a memorable experience for all!
As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in bringing the fair to life—whether it’s assisting with event setup, guiding visitors, supporting exhibitors, or helping keep everything running smoothly throughout the fairgrounds.

There are a variety of roles, including Gates & Admission, parking assistance, event setup and takedown, livestock and agricultural exhibit support, information booths, and general fairground assistance.
Most positions do not require special skills, but some roles (e.g., cleaning up after animals or operating equipment) may require specific experience or training. Training will be provided for whatever position you fill.
Yes, volunteers typically need to be entering high school in September. However, some positions may require volunteers to be 18 or older. Parental consent may be required for younger volunteers.
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. It’s also a good idea to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and any necessary weather-appropriate gear.
Yes! All of our volunteers are invited to a Volunteer Orientation evening at the Essa Agriplex. At this meeting, we’ll give you lots of helpful information on what to expect while you’re here, what your duties may include, and how you’ll be supported in your role. You’ll also receive your t-shirt, and any specialized training required for your role.
Yes! Volunteers may receive free admission on any day they are scheduled, a volunteer T-shirt, lunch & supper. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to gain experience, meet new people, and support the community.
Yes, many of our volunteers are high school students, and we are happy to sign for hours.
Students are responsible to track their own hours, and provide the appropriate form to be signed.
